YOU CAN EXPERIENCE FREEDOM AND OVERCOME LIFE-CONTROLLING PROBLEMS THROUGH THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST.

The Jesus Factor

The success of Teen Challenge has been attributed to “The Jesus Factor”: a person with life-controlling problems can experience spiritual, mental, and emotional transformation through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

OUR MISSION To evangelize people who have life-controlling problems, and to initiate the discipleship process to the point where the student can function as a Christian in society, applying spiritually motivated Biblical principles to relationships in the family, local church, chosen vocation and the community.

Teen Challenge of Greater Cleveland, Inc. , established in 1968 is a Christian Growth and Development center which provides a residential program for men (18 years and older) who want help in overcoming life-controlling problems such as, but not limited to, drug and alcohol abuse. The program consists of a Basic Induction Phase (4 to 6 months) in Perry, Ohio, and and Advanced Training Phase (8 months) at Adult & Teen Challenge Mid America, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Our Basic Induction Program is located on a 12-acre rustic campus in Perry, Ohio, twenty miles east of Cleveland, one-half mile south of Lake Erie. Facilities include three dormitories, a dining hall and classroom building, chapel, offices and work shop.

THE PROGRAM:

  • SPIRITUAL TRAINING Spiritual, mental and emotional wholeness is encouraged through Bible Study, Church and Chapel Services, personal devotions, individual counseling. We seek to provide practical, useful and meaningful application of the Scriptures to each student’s personal needs, utilizing the Adult and Teen Challenge curriculum in Group Studies and Personalized Studies.

  • VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT The development of a healthy work ethic is encouraged by providing the student with “hands-on” experience. Students work three and half or more hours each weekday, and may have additional duties on the weekend.

  • PHYSICAL EXERCISE Group recreational activities such as softball, basketball, football, swimming, ping-pong, and picnics help the students to understand the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship. Individual activities such as jogging and weight-lifting are also available.

  • DISCIPLINED ENVIRONMENT With a full schedule of supervised activities in the context of a controlled environment, the student is provided with the structure and discipline which encourage constructive change.

What former students are saying…

After detoxing from drugs, I felt the full impact of the void and emptiness of my life. At Teen Challenge I surrendered my life, my all, to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit filled the void. Now my life has direction , a purpose, I put all my trust in God now. He is my everlasting strength.”

“I was one of the first to go into the Teen Challenge of Greater Cleveland program. God delivered me from a living death and raised me up in Christ Jesus to a new life. Teen Challenge was the incubator I needed in my drastic case.”

“After fifteen years of drug abuse, I was confused and in despair. At Teen Challenge God has taken my broken life and put it back together. He has brought me out of darkness and given me new life. I thank God for this ministry, for without it I may have been destroyed.”
